Health
There are many aspects to mental health, but it is the most neglected part of a persons health. There has always been a stigma on mental health, and as a Christian there is a greater stigma as well as pressure to just overcome, rather than being encouraged to seek out help. Working in the field Jamie came to a realization that there is more to the mind, it necessary to pay attention to be taken care of the mind just like you would any other part of the body when you see it needs help. It is harder to see when your brain is sick because it is not something you can see, and can only be measured based on behaviors. Through the behavioral changes in a person, they feel ashamed to reach out for help because of the stigma of mental health and many people continue to struggle feeling like they are abnormal or less than because of the struggles they face. There are many reasons many struggle with the feelings of anxiety, depression, panic attacks, anger, mood changes. Mental heath and behavioral changes can be caused by chemical imbalance, trauma from the past that is triggered, hormonal changes or other factors that people are unable to see. Jamie’s has experiences both in ministry and in the mental health field and has seen people are suffering and struggle reaching out for help. Our society has put a stigma on mental health and people don't want others to know what they are going through or facing. The fact is that there are many that are struggling with the same issues and are also feeling alone and struggle reaching out for help. In the recent years many people, including pastors have taken their own lives. The truth is, with those that are struggling YOU ARE NOT ALONE. Reach out and ask for that help. There is a way out of the dark place you feel like you are in.
